Applications are due on March 1, 2018. This is an NEH Summer Institute for College and University Faculty; tenure-track and tenured faculty, adjunct faculty, and advanced graduate students are all welcome to apply.
Notifications of acceptance will be sent out on March 28, 2018.
There are three main elements to your application for the Summer Institute: an NEH Cover Sheet, an emailed application package, and one letter of reference.
1) NEH Cover Sheet
- Complete the cover sheet online at: https://securegrants.neh.gov/education/participant…
- Follow the prompts.
- Before you click the “submit” button, save the cover sheet as a PDF, and add it to your emailed application package (see below). Then click “submit.”
- You will be asked if you want to fill out a cover sheet for a second project. If you do, repeat the process.
- Do not use the same cover sheet for different projects.
2) Application Package
An application package containing a PDF of the NEH cover sheet plus the materials below should be emailed to the Institute directors at email@example.com
a) Letter of Interest
In your letter (not to exceed four double spaced pages), please (i) discuss your interest in the “way of life” approach, (ii) explain how the Institute will likely impact your teaching, and (iii) state any research expertise that will be relevant to the guiding questions of the Institute.
Please send a CV (not to exceed five pages) including information about your education, employment, publications, presentations, work in progress, and courses that you regularly teach.
3) One Letter of Reference
One letter of reference should be sent directly by your referee to the Institute directors at firstname.lastname@example.org
Participants will be selected by the three project directors. The goal is to recruit a diverse group of faculty, aiming for ample representations from: (1) large universities and small liberal arts colleges, (2) religious and secular institutions, (3) a range of classroom experience, and (4) a range of intellectual and cultural approaches to philosophy as a way of life. We also seek participants who are interested in forming lasting inter-institutional partnerships to develop these curricula.
